PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College officials are seeking funding from the state Legislature for three major construction projects on the college’s main campus.
The projects include a $22 million science and technology building, a $14 million renovation for the Peninsula College library and a Native American cultural center, for which $250,000 is being sought.
The funding requests will be forwarded to Gov. Gary Locke’s office for consideration during the next session of the Legislature.
In March, college officials received $1.13 million to begin designing the science and technology building.
Peninsula College President Tom Keegan said design work is just starting and added that the building will be constructed where the current dormitory is now.
The aged housing facility will be torn down, partly because of the low numbers of students choosing to live on campus in recent years.
If funded, construction of the science and technology building would begin July 2005 and be completed sometime in 2007.
