PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Marathon Association recently announced that it has donated more than $1,000 worth of socks to the local nonprofit Caring for Kids.
Caring for Kids supplies new and like-new clothing to students and families in the Port Angeles School District.
The marathon association works with Your City Socks for the design, sales and donation of its socks.
Your City Socks, which was started in 2013 by recent Port Angeles High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Carolyn Colwell, donates a pair of socks for every pair that they sell.
The association sells socks for the North Olympic Discovery Marathon as well as the new Run the Peninsula race series and for every pair purchased another pair is donated to Caring for Kids.
Caring for Kids has donation bins in all of the Port Angeles schools as well as a larger bin in the lobby of the Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St.
