WEEKEND: Handmade crafts available at Vern Burton holiday fair

PORT ANGELES — More than 40 vendors will sell hand-crafted goods at the Vern Burton Christmas Fair this weekend.

The fair, sponsored by the city of Port Angeles Recreation Division, will be at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The show will offer a variety of crafts, from wooden bowls, baskets and birdhouses to cozy pajamas and chocolates.

Gift sets

The Youth and Family Program will sell bath salt gift sets and ornaments made by children.

Port Angeles High School Senior Class Party Parents will sell swags to raise money for the 2012 senior class.

City of Port Angeles Employee Association members will serve breakfast and lunch both days and are holding a multi-item raffle featuring a 14-karat white-gold blue topaz ring.

Proceeds will benefit local scholarships, the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society and the Port Angeles Food Bank.

Photos with Santa

Santa Claus, in the form of Port Angeles City Manager Kent Myers, will be available for Pets with Santa photos in the City Hall Atrium from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Photos are $10, with proceeds going to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.

Santa will hand out candy from noon to 12:30 p.m. in the Vern Burton Community Center.

The Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary has held this show for 31 years but has decided not to continue the show and will try other fundraising activities.

The city Recreation Division decided to sponsor the show to continue the longstanding community event.
