Volunteer trail work party Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — A volunteer work party for maintenance of the city of Port Townsend’s trail system will take place at Bishop Park from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The work will be led by the city’s Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Board and City Parks staff with volunteer assistance at the park.

Interested volunteers will meet at the trail entrance into the park on Parkside Drive near the Kosec Funeral Home across the street from Bishop Play Park.

Trail maintenance activities will focus on clearing forest understory brush including salal, serviceberry and blackberry to widen the trail corridor.

Pruners, loppers and other hand tools will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own to help supplement supplies.

Volunteers should bring gloves, pruners, loppers and water. They should also wear sturdy work boots and gloves and dress for the weather. The trail work will take place, rain or shine.

Snacks will be provided afterwards.

For information, contact Alex Wisniewski at 360-379-5081 or Bre Ganne at bganne@cityofpt.us.
