Sequim seeks performers, artists for Sunshine Festival

Application deadline for event is Nov. 15

SEQUIM — The city of Sequim is now accepting applications for musical performers to participate in the 2020 Sequim Sunshine Festival, set for March 6-7.

Venues will include indoor and outdoor locations. Some locations will have power; others will not. Performers of all genres are encouraged to apply.

Applications can be found on the Sequim tourism website at

Applications can be sent by email to [email protected] or mailed to Sequim Civic Center, Attn: Sequim Sunshine Festival, 152 W. Cedar St., Sequim, WA, 98382.

Deadline for applications is Nov. 15.

Art installation

The City Arts Advisory Commission is seeking volunteers — individuals or groups — from art and technology sectors to help create and/or display temporary installations using light as the medium.

The temporary installations will be part of the premiere Sunshine Festival in March; installations will take place March 3-5.

Art pieces may vary in size and include projection art, 3D sculptures, glowing performance art and augmented reality art.

Existing and new installations and projects will be considered.

Those interested in volunteering for the project are asked to email information to arts coordinator Cyndi Hueth at [email protected] no later than Oct. 25.

For more information, call 360-582-2477.

About the festival

The Sunshine Festival will begin the evening of March 6 as part of the First Friday Art Walk.

Activities on March 7 will start at Carrie Blake Community Park with a morning bicycle ride and the 1K and 5K Sun Fun Colour Run.

Daytime activities also will include volleyball and badminton games sponsored by the Sequim YMCA, an interactive light art exhibition, community art projects and live music throughout town.

Throughout March 6-7, participants can earn “Glow Bling” through the Great Big Scavenger Hunt to wear during the Light Up the Night promenade at Carrie Blake Community Park featuring an illuminated Drone Show presented by the Drone Show Light Company of Los Angeles.

The show will be followed by the Sound Community Bank Beach Party with live music by local favorites Black Diamond Junction and dinner by Kokopelli Grill of Port Angeles.

Schedules, performer applications, run and cycle event details and registration, beach party tickets and all other information will be available soon on
