PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Garden Club has awarded the Summer Green Thumb Award to Gail and Paul McDonald.

The McDonalds began their landscaping projects in 2013 when they moved into their home at 127 W. Seventh St., and they continue to add perennials and annuals to their yard.

The centerpiece of the front yard is an acer, also known as a Japanese maple, that shades the home. It has been twisted and shaped by the nature’s winds.

Summer flowers are in bloom everywhere, including daisies, crocosmia, dahlias and roses, with many more flowers and plants filling the yard.
