Murder mystery preview set in Sequim

SEQUIM — “Sleuth,” that murder mystery made famous by the 1972 movie with Michael Caine and Sir Laurence Olivier, is coming to the Olympic Theatre Arts stage today for a specially priced preview.

The play, starring Colby Thomas and Pat Owens, is loaded with plot twists, gunshots, explosions and crackling conversation.

“It is really a blast,” said director Loren Johnson.

“It’s a show that makes you think a little,” added Thomas, who plays the young Milo Tindle.

“It turns the [mystery] genre on its head.”

“We get to cover every emotion in the book,” said Owens, who portrays Tindle’s nemesis, the egomaniacal Andrew Wyke.

“The audience can’t really tell what’s going on till the play is finally over,” he added, “and then they’re just left in awe.”

OTA invites theater lovers to the discount preview performance at 7:30 p.m. today at the playhouse at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Tickets, available at the door only, will sell for $8, though OTA members get in free.

Then “Sleuth” starts its three-week run the following night, with curtain times at 7:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through Oct. 1 and at 2 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 2.

Tickets are $16.50 for general admission, $14.50 for OTA members and active military service members, and $11.50 for youths 16 and younger.

To reserve seats during “Sleuth’s” regular run, phone OTA at 360-683-7326 or visit www.OlympicTheatreArts.org.
