Kids’ Fishing Day, a purse auction and a number of plant sales are among the upcoming activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Plant sale

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Garden Club will host its 29th Spring Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The sale will be at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

It will include perennials, bulbs, shrubs, houseplants, and herb and vegetable starts.

Several prizes will be raffled off, including a trip for two to Victoria, B.C., with round-trip walk-on fare for the Black Ball Ferry, transportation and admission to Butchart Gardens and a night at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

Raffle tickets are available from club members and at the Port Angeles Farmers Market; winners do not need to be present.

Contra dance

PORT ANGELES — Michael Karcher will be calling a contra dance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The dance will be at the Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Road.

Music will be performed by Jane Landstra and the Country Capers.

The evening will begin with a contra dance workshop at 7 p.m.

Purse auction

PORT ANGELES — Soroptimist International or Port Angeles Jet Set will host a Cinco de Mayo purse auction from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The fundraiser will be at the Port Angeles Yacht Club, 1305 Marine Drive.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 per person and can be purchased online at www.sijetset.com or from any Jet Set member.

Proceeds from the event will support awards and scholarships for women and girls in the local community.

Scholarship auditions

PORT ANGELES — Monday Musicale will hold auditions for its 2019 scholarship applicants at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The auditions will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Angeles, 139 W. Eighth St.

Clallam County high school students will audition for one of three scholarships.

The public is invited to attend the free auditions.

Newcomers’ luncheon

PORT ANGELES — Deon Kapetan, director of the Sequim Irrigation Festival, will address the Olympic Newcomers’ Club brunch at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The brunch will be at Joshua’s Restaurant, 113 Del Guzzi Drive.

Kapetan will discuss the history of the festival.

The meal will include fresh fruit, sweet breads and rolls, eggs, red potatoes with onions, French toast, biscuits and gravy, bacon and ham for $21 per person.

Bingo night

Proceeds will benefit hunter education program and the annual Kids’ Fishing Day.

PORT TOWNSEND — Caspar Babypants will perform at 5:30 p.m. today to benefit a movement to create a playground accessible to all children.

Admission will be a suggested donation of $10; children younger than 2 will be admitted free of charge.

Snacks and raffle prizes will be offered at the concert.
