ANOTHER WEEKEND OF music on the North Olympic Peninsula is sure to soothe your soul.

Port Angeles

• Tonight at Castaways Restaurant and Night Club, 1213 Marine Drive, the Sun downers host a jam from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. These fellas really know how to have fun!

• On Sunday, the Junction Roadhouse, junction of U.S. Highway 101 and state Highway 112 five miles west of Port Angeles, has Barry Burnett with the Sunday Jam from 8 p.m. to midnight.

On Monday, there is a special surprise. Two gals are gonna stop in fer a free gig and tickle yer toes at 7 p.m.

Jason Mogi is on summer hiatus and will not be appearing every Wednesday.

• Wine on the Waterfront, 115 Railroad Ave., brings a new name to Port Angeles Saturday when California favorites The Late Bloomers bring their ’60s inspired folk-rock show to the bar at 8 p.m. $3 cover.

• Jazz it up Saturday at Kokopelli’s Underground, 203 E. Front St., with the Bluenotes from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Cover.

• On Saturday, Cal’s Beach Band will be playing at the Port Angeles Farmers Market at The Gateway, Front and Lincoln streets.

• Dave and Rosalie Secord and the whole Luck of the Draw gang are at the Fairmount Restaurant, on U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles, from 6 to 9 p.m. with the Tuesday acoustic jam. Don’t be left out!

• On Friday night, the Veela Cafe, 133 E. First St., has Jim Lind providing both rock and country, fast and slow, from his impressive repertoire, at 7:30 p.m.

• Every Tuesday evening, the Port Angeles Senior Swingers present Wally and the Boys, playing ballroom dance favorites for the dancing pleasure of all seniors 45 years plus, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Senior Center, Seventh and Peabody streets. $5 cover, first-timers free!

Sequim and Blyn

• Tonight, don’t miss the jam hosted by Chantilly Lace at the Oasis Sports Bar and Grill, 301 E. Washington St., from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Any Thursday night you’ll find some of the best jammers from your favorite bands joining in the fun. Classic rock and country from the ’50s and ’60s, blues and pop from later decades are all in the broad repertoire honed over 35 years. Jammers come in early and sign in on the sign-up sheet.

Skidder Hill livens up the club Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Moderately Loud Music plays at 9 p.m.

Next Wednesday, the boomer music boys make a Final Approach from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with their ’50s-’60s rock, folk and other tunes.

• On Saturday, Howly Slim performs at Las Palomas Mexican Restaurant, 1085 E. Washington St., at 5 p.m. Not only that, but you can find ol’ Howly there every other Saturday after that for your dining pleasure.

• At The Buzz, 128 N. Sequim Ave., Kelly Thomas hosts the very popular and rousing open mic Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

• Also for your dining pleasure, at Stymies Bar and Grill at Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road, you’ll find the Chez Jazz duo of vocalist Sarah Shea and pianist Al Harris on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

• Tonight at 7 Cedars Casino, Blyn, in the Club Seven Lounge, enjoy a little contemporary jazz by Electric Sun from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Friday, one of Club Seven’s favorite bands, Rock Candy, will rock you out from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and again Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.

On Sunday, the Pearl of the Peninsula, Stardust Big Band, plays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday night’s jazz feature is The Reflections, for your dancing pleasure from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Port Hadlock

• On Friday at the Ajax Cafe, 271 Water St., Ahmad Baabahar combines blues, folk, funk and rhythm and blues into a rich brew with honesty, grit and soul at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Jess will play tunes on piano from the Beatles to Billy Joel at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, Jim Nyby plays blues, ballads, jazz and soul at 5:30 p.m.

Port Townsend

• Tonight at The Upstage, 923 Washington St, champion fiddler Ivonne Hernandez brings the Folk Arts Quartet. With roots in Celtic and American fiddle styles and extensive technical training, this lady and this group soar! Starts at 7:30 p.m. $12.

On Friday, Samuel James, a blues traditionalist with contemporary delivery, performs an the slide, banjo, harmonica and piano at 8 p.m. $10.

On Saturday, enjoy something exotic when The Kusun Ensemble, an extraordinary group of musicians and dancers based in Ghana, West Africa, bring a new brand of music and dance they have dubbed “Nokoko,” starting at 8 p.m. $12.

On Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 7 p.m., you can get a sample of things to come (next weekend) with the Centrum Port Townsend Jazz Festival Jazz Jam.

• At Port Townsend Brewing, 330 10th St., Chuck Easton plays jazz Friday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, enjoy the Alternators from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Next Wednesday, Tim Halpin and the Better Half play from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• On Friday, the jazz trio of Jim Oliver, John Morton and special guest Nye Morton play standards and surprises at the Undertown from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

• Sirens, 823 Water St., has Mark Matos and his country rock, Friday at 9 p.m., $5.

And now for something completely different: Get some Innuendo/Omega Moo, Indie punk, on Saturday at 9 p.m. $5.

• On Saturday, at Castle Key Restaurant, Seventh and Sheridan streets, the Pep Culpepper Trio performs from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. $8 cover.

Community concerts

• Arts in Action has musical entertainment at the stage by the City Pier in Port Angeles this weekend. On Saturday, the music starts at 10 a.m., goes on throughout the day and includes Blackbird, Kevin Magner, Bound to Happen, BBR, The Eight Second Ride and, for the street dance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Soulshakers.

On Sunday, it all begins at 11 a.m. and includes The Secords, Blackbird, Kevin Magner, Bound to Happen and BBR.

• Friends of Fort Flagler have Hardtack and Honey performing Sunday at 7 p.m. at Battery Bankhead, Fort Flagler State Park, Marrowstone Island.

• Next Tuesday in Sequim, enjoy the Stardust Big Band in the beautiful outdoor setting of the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Port Angeles’ Concert on the Pier series next Wednesday has hometown favorites Deadwood Revival playing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Saturday in Quilcene at the Community Center, U.S. Highway 101, Skidder Hill entertains with bluegrass, old-time and country from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Music news

• Next week’s the week for all that jazz Port Townsend way. It starts July 29, and we’ll have more about that next week, but for now mark your calendars. It’s an all week-workshop where people from all over the world come to live and learn with some of the finest jazz musicians playing today.

And remember Jazz in the Clubs, with several venues, starts July 29. Get those wristbands.

• Mark Aug. 8 on your calendar for a benefit for lead guitarist of Fat Chance, Max Fernandes, at the Port Angeles Eagles, 110 Penn St.
