SEQUIM — BirdFest-BirdQuest, a free game, will take place in 20 of Sequim’s businesses to promote the Olympic BirdFest.
The Sequim Merchants Group game sponsored by the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce precedes the April 7-9 BirdFest, which will offer field trips and presentations with the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, serving as BirdFest Central.
Bird sculptures created by Jake Reichner’s Sequim High School ceramics class can be found at participating businesses and matched with the business on game cards offered at each of the businesses.
The grand prize will be a “bird’s-eye view of Sequim” plane ride to Port Townsend and back with Emily Westcott, plus one year’s membership to the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society.
Game cards, along with People’s Choice nominations of the sculptures, can be turned in from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1-8 at the chamber, 1192 E. Washington St.
BirdFest-BirdQuest finishes at 4 p.m. April 8.
The drawing for the grand prize will be at 1 p.m. April 9. The top three People’s Choice winners will receive cash prizes.
The winners will be announced at the Dungeness River Audubon Center. It is not necessary to be present to win.
For the remainder of April, the Sequim High School students’ ceramic bird sculptures will be on display at the Audubon center.
