Auditions set for Olympic Theatre Arts’ ‘Angel Street’

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts Center will conduct auditions for Patrick Hamilton’s play “Gaslight” — known in America as “Angel Street” at 4 p.m. on Jan. 5.

Auditions will be at the center at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

“Angel Street” tells the story of a woman being slowly driven mad by her malicious husband.

Through her own strength and the interaction of others she is finally set free to make her own decisions.

Director Ginny Holladay is looking for actors to play the following parts:

• Mr. Manningham, the husband — charismatic, intelligent and ruthless; to be played by a male-identifying actor in his 30s-50s.

• Mrs. Manningham, the wife — whimsical, imaginative, intelligent; to be played by a female-identifying actor in her 20s-40s.

• Detective Rough, the detective — boisterous, wise, brave; to be played by a female-identifying actor in her 40s-60s.

• Elizabeth, the head maid — timid, caring, fearful; to be played by a female-identifying actor in her 40s-60s.

• Nance, the house maid — carefree, persuasive, naive; to be played by a female-identifying actor in her 20s-30s.

Callbacks — as well as auditions for anyone who can’t make the first audition — are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Jan. 8, at OTA.

“I am particularly excited to be directing Angel Street,” Holladay said, “with its timeless warnings of how easy it is to destroy someone through mental coercion, and how important it is to give power back to those who need it most.”

“Angel Street” runs Feb. 10-17. Rehearsals are scheduled for evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. starting Jan. 10, but may be subject to change according to cast availability.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for participation in this production.

Audition forms and scripts will be available on the day of auditions.
