Ash Wednesday service in Sequim

SEQUIM — The public is invited to attend an Ash Wednesday service at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The community service is at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 N. Blake Ave., Sequim.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a time for Christians to prepare their hearts for Easter through prayer, reflection and repentance with imposition of ashes.

Following the service, from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., the church will host a Lenten Meditation Haven, a quiet, peaceful time for self-guided meditation and prayer.

“We welcome all Christians and seekers of God to make each Lenten Wednesday a sacred time for spiritual deepening,” Pastor Desi Larson said. “Our Sanctuary is a haven where individuals can prepare their hearts for the Passion and Resurrection of Christ in a setting of reverent music and quiet reflection.”

The church will host the meditation haven in the sanctuary from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday throughout Lent.

A table at the entrance will provide Scripture passages to guide reflection, and gentle, meditative music will be performed by Pauline Olsen, the church’s organist, with occasional contributions from other musicians.
