The Art Jam 2017 art show and sale will feature a contributing mixed-media piece called “Our Raven,” a 6-foot-tall mannequin woman with a mosaic body, carved raven head and feathers. This piece was inspired by a friend of artists involved in Art Jam who died last year after battling cancer.

Annual art show, sale is back for Sequim Lavender Weekend

SEQUIM — Art Jam is gearing up for its annual art show and sale just in time for Sequim Lavender Weekend.

This year, the show will feature nine local artists and two guest artists — Larry McCaffrey and Mike McCollum — who will display their work from classic acrylic paintings to a 6-foot-tall raven woman called “Our Raven.”

Art Jam will be held in the barn at Rock Hollow Farm at 505 E. Silberhorn Road from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily today through Sunday.

Artwork will include woodwork, paintings, sculptures and contemporary jewelry.

Visitors can watch live demonstrations and add to the graffiti wall or community painting.

In addition to the art on display, music is planned under the apple tree, and a flash mob might make an appearance Sunday.

Susan Gansert Shaw, Rock Hollow Farm owner, said while some people in the community come specifically to buy artwork at the event, others come to experience the feel-good energy.

“We all have fun,” Shaw said. “It’s just a good feel.”

Last year, Art Jam painted a piano that is now on display at the Sequim Civic Center for Keying Around. This year, Shaw said the group’s contributing project was a painted chair for Habitat for Humanity that will be on display at the event.
