Supports Lorna Smith for Jefferson County commissioner

I have known Lorna Smith for many years, well before she became an energetic activist in support of the values of Port Townsend and Jefferson County.

Lorna has extensive knowledge and long-term experience in multiple aspects of ecology and the environment.

Her early support and collaborative effort to preserve Protection Island provides an example of both her foresight and her ability to work in collaboration with a broad cross-section of people.

She also has experience as a business owner and has served on the Washington State Economic Development Board.

I am very impressed with Lorna Smith’s understanding of our community, our problems, and her willingness to sit down and listen to our ideas and concerns.

She has demonstrated strong commitment to the environment including many years serving on the Conservation Futures Committee and a commitment to the people of our area by serving three terms on the county Planning Commission.

I am looking forward to having a commissioner who will address issues of importance to each one of us.

Fortunately we are blessed with several good candidates for public office this year.

Because of the coronavirus and the devastation it will leave in its wake, choosing our elected officials is of particular importance this year.

Because of her ability to work cooperatively with a broad spectrum of people, her understanding of the challenges of business ownership and her deep knowledge of environmental issues, I believe Lorna is the best choice for Jefferson County commissioner.

I urge you to vote for Lorna Smith for District 2 Jefferson County Commissioner.
