LETTER:Sequim questions

I was disappointed to learn that the mayor and three appointed members of the Sequim city council proceeded to force the resignation of much-loved and respected City Manager Charlie Bush.

Many of us signaled our support for retaining Mr. Bush by writing to Mayor Armacost and the council members and by rallying in the cold, but to no avail.

The reason the mayor gave for ousting Charlie was the difference in philosophies between them.

Mayor Armacost, as has been noted time and time again, is a subscriber to QAnon philosophies.

I can’t help but wonder how much it will cost the city of Sequim, and Sequim residents, in council time and Sequim money to recruit and hire a new city manager more in keeping with the mayor’s philosophies, not to mention pay Charlie’s severance package.

I also wonder if the mayor already has a candidate in mind.

As noted in the recent editorial by PDN editorial staff, three of the four who voted for forcing this resignation were appointed by council majority rather than voted in by Sequim residents.

Sequim folks, are our interests being served?

Remember, remember to vote in November.
