It’s been over a year now in which our community has been subjected to an atmosphere of fear and trepidation due to the pandemic.
No need to list the very disheartening effects that this and all the new rules have had on everyone.
The question is, are you, and I, going to silently accept that another season of community festivals and events, formerly at the very heart of our Northwest Washington culture, be cancelled again?
That online, virtual, substitutes are great?
That faces must remain covered indefinitely?
That businesses have to keep their hands tied?
It’s time now that our esteemed county officials, including Dr. Berry, hear from all those who agree that enough is enough.
It’s time to tell Reps. Tharinger and Chapman and Senator Van de Wege that graduating to Phase 2 again is great.
But, especially now that a vaccine is available, we need to reopen and nix the government mandates.
Now.
If you’re elderly, have immune deficiencies, chronic lung problems, or, are just plain afraid, you can, and probably should, continue to cover your face, disinfect, and keep your distance from others for as long as you need to.
But it’s time the rest of us get back to our vital social connections.
Back to normal living, and breathing, again.
