I am concerned about the Sequim School District 323, Director At Large, Position No. 4 election.
The issue is the candidacy, or non-candidacy, of Kristi Schmeck, who declared herself a non-candidate.
According to an article in the Oct. 1 PDN, if Ms. Schmeck gets the most votes, the existing school board would decide whoever they want as a new member.
The other candidate, Virginia Sheppard, who may have received four or five thousand votes, could be just cast aside.
This does not pass the smell test.
Hopefully, Ms. Sheppard will get the most votes.
The Clallam County Auditor’s office should post a series of notices in the paper advising that Ms. Schmeck is no longer an actual candidate.
