I read with dismay and disgust reports in the news of otherwise intelligent people protesting COVID-19 vaccinations and masks.
Using the argument of personal choice to avoid their responsibility to protect themselves and those around them is illogical and is particularly immoral.
Would anyone accept the personal choice argument to refuse to stop at stop signs?
While avoiding stopping at intersections would likely result in injury or death to a few people, avoiding the COVID-19 shot could easily result in personal and widespread sickness and death to many people.
Personal choice is valid only when that choice harms no one.
Willful disregard for the health of others is to my mind a criminal act.
Any health care worker or teacher who chooses to put patients and children at risk of sickness or death by refusing a proven preventative vaccine and masks should, at a minimum, lose their jobs and leave that work to those who actually care about their fellow citizens.
The risk to society is far too high to continue tolerating the insanely foolish arguments of the anti-vaxers.
