LETTER:Doesn’t believe it

When I left home yesterday for my shift as an election observer, little did I know that I would end the day feeling like I wandered into an episode of an old classic television show.

During my shift I became involved in a conversation with three other people, two of whom were also observers.

One said that Clallam County was the most corrupt county for elections in the entire country.

When I skeptically asked her who told her that, she responded without batting an eye, “our chair.”

Another person said that his party had done a door-to-door audit and a large number of votes were fraudulent.

The third person asked if we were aware that there were more ballots counted in the last election than there were registered voters.

These statements were so unbelievable that I felt that Rod Serling might come out of the shadows accompanied by eerie music to intone that I had entered The Twilight Zone.

These individuals, who truly believed what they were saying, are a perfect example of the choice facing us when we fill out our ballots.

One party may be flawed, but trusts the multiple safeguards of our election system and feels that the voting process in our county is secure.

The individuals from the other party clearly live in a different reality dominated by conspiracy theories and speculation about the last election dressed up as facts.

Please consider carefully when you vote who is the better choice to take us into the future.
