LETTER: Vote yes on levy to support community

Important choice

Nearly 20 years ago a group of us from the City Council toured the schools in Port Angeles to assess their shape prior to a levy which, sadly, failed.

They were in terrible shape then and are surely much worse now.

We have an important choice to make again.

If we vote this down and reject $18 million of matching funds from the state, we will continue to pour scarce money into dying structures for many more years.

We must seriously consider how that affects our town in recruiting and retaining a skilled staff to provide the modern tools necessary to educate our children.

As we witness the revitalization downtown, we should join those efforts by voting yes on the school levy so vital to our potential in this beautiful town.
