LETTER: Urges votes for Chapman, Tharinger, Doherty and Nichols

I was very fortunate to work closely at Clallam County for over a decade with four talented and dedicated people who are seeking re-election: Mike Chapman and Steve Tharinger for state representatives, Mike Doherty for county commissioner and Mark Nichols for Clallam County prosecuting attorney.

Chapman and Tharinger served on a very successful county commissioner team and have carried that teamwork to the state Legislature.

They have worked hard to fully fund local schools, bring community resources to Clallam County, improve access to health care and work as leaders of legislative committees important to the county.

I also worked with Mike Doherty for many years when he was a county commissioner.

He was part of that effective team with Chapman and Tharinger.

He worked diligently on behalf of drug court funding and prevention projects and has a vast knowledge of resources that can benefit Clallam County.

Mark Nichols has implemented positive changes in the prosecution of felonies, increased victim services, increased referrals to the successful drug court and wants to implement a mental health court.

I recently talked with a Sequim law enforcement official who raved about the improvements with coordination between the prosecutor’s office and local law enforcement and cities.

We are so lucky to have such public servants who work so hard for Clallam County citizens. Please join me in voting for them to continue their contributions to our wonderful community.

Florence Bucierka,

Sequim
