LETTER: Thanking Port Angeles residents for their generosity

Dear Port Angeles,

I left you many years ago after being raised on your shores.

During visits I continued to see the peninsula a bit out-of-touch and limited in choices, with that tantalizing world class physical environment.

Last summer my elderly mother there was widowed and random acts of kindness started flowing her way, groceries at Safeway, dinner while she was dining alone, and, on Easter, an anonymous basket on her front porch with a note about the contents being sanitized for her safety.

Port Angeles, your citizens are world class.

If there was a way to honor your spirit there would be another Mount Olympus in the park, Mount Kindness for the goodness in your hearts.

Thank you.

We see you.

I’m asking myself now, if I’m one of you.
