I would like to express my deep appreciation for Cmdr. Jennifer Runion, the officers and crew of the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Active, the Lefties owner Matt Acker, and all who recognized and thanked Vietnam veterans Saturday evening at Civic Field.
It was heartwarming to stand with fellow old vets and shake hands with the bright-eyed young Coasties and ballplayers that are our real national treasure.
It could not have been a better event.
