LETTER: Supports Second Amendment

Responding to the letter “Gun control” on Feb. 12 commenting on a previous letter “Stand up for rights,” that asserts “We have limits on the First Amendment, so why is the Second Amendment any different?”

Inferring it seems that there are no limits on the 2nd Amendment.

Apparently, the writer hasn’t heard of the NFA of 1934, the GCA of 1968, I-594, I-1491, and I-1639 naming a few.

Supposedly to protect us from the newly coined, non-existent, biased media-driven “Gun Violence Epidemic,” meanwhile ignoring the rights defined in the 4th, 5th and 14th Amendments.

The author’s diatribe also appears to come right out of the progressive, liberal, left-wing playbook and their mouthpiece, the lame-stream media, particularly the old standbys: background checks, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

It’s stated “most Americans, including gun owners, feel the same way, according to many, many polls.”

What polls?

The author also says, “I have a right to feel safe in large crowds, churches and schools.”

So do firearm owners.

It’s everyone’s right to keep and bear arms or not to.

So why blame gun owners for the actions of criminal psychopaths and want to disarm lawful citizens exercising their rights because some people are uninformed, unfamiliar, ignorant and fearful of guns?

Guns are for hunting, recreation, protection of self and from government tyranny.

Firearm owners pay attention and vote.

It doesn’t say “shall not be infringed except for…”
