LETTER: Supports PASD capital levy

A free and appropriate public education is promised to all children in our great nation. Each state legislature and locally elected school board work together to determine how this promise is delivered.

In Washington the state is responsible for building colleges and universities. Each local school board must ask the voting public to fund the building of schools in their respective districts.

Many of the schools in the Port Angeles district are in dire need of replacement now and in the future.

The PASD school board and staff have come to the public with a 27-year plan that will provide our current and future students with educational environments that are safe and appropriate for 21st century learning.

My husband and I are retired senior citizens living on hard-earned pensions. We have paid property taxes here for 20 years and are glad to do so. We are proud to be citizens of Port Angeles and want this community to thrive.

As an advocate for all of our children, I urge you to join us in delivering on our promise. Someone did it for each of us. Now it is our turn.

Please vote YES in support of our local school levy request.
