LETTER: Supports Eisenhour

Port Townsend

As a longtime supporter of Heidi Eisenhour it has been great to see her progress so successfully in her campaign for District 2 Jefferson County commissioner.

Those who did not know her are getting introduced to the depth and breadth of her experience and qualifications and her collaborative, team-building style.

Not just an advocate for the environment in all her personal and professional accomplishments, she is also a strong negotiator who understands our local economic elements that must be maintained to keep our citizens working and protected.

Heidi’s outreach before the primary election to Sheriff Joe Nole and others involved with delivering public services is commendable.

Given the sizable portion of the county budget that the commissioners oversee which is attributable to law enforcement, it is good that she is adept at setting budgetary priorities and matching policy to the needs of the community.

She wants to reassign a portion of the budget to hire a Navigator to deploy non-lethal resources as situations evolve through the sheriff’s department.

This is a great example of the pragmatic approach we can expect from Heidi.

Her varied background in many positions across a variety of businesses and organizations over her career has prepared her to deal well with the complexity and ever-changing landscape we now face.

The adaptation of the Wooden Boat Festival to a virtual event this year under Heidi’s guidance is another great example of ways she gets involved with the community and keeps things moving forward.
