Please support Referendum 90.
As a retired public health nurse and mother of three, I found that access to sexual health education was hit or miss in schools.
I was sometimes a guest speaker on these issues for eighth and ninth graders.
Over 35 years ago in rural Idaho I was present for a “good touch bad touch” presentation for preschoolers that was very appropriate and necessary.
As young as 3-years old a child needs to be able to tell an adult that someone has touched them in the wrong place, I know personally of several such cases.
This is the type of information that is in the curriculum, not teaching little ones how to consent to sexual activity.
Older children, starting by at least age 10, do need the consent information because as a provider of birth control we screened for possible abuse and found that some kids were coerced into unwanted sexual activity by older kids or adults.
Please support this bill for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
