LETTER: Suggests way to end political nepotism

I think it’s very likely that Hunter Biden got his job at the corrupt Ukrainian power company because his daddy was vice-president of the United States.

It’s called nepotism and its practice is one of the ways our governmental processes are open to questionable uses of power and downright corruption.

But I’m naive.

I was appalled to hear that an utterly unqualified youngster could profit in this way from his father’s position of political influence.

Turns out, nepotism is business as usual in the big, bad political world.

But I’m still appalled, so this is what I suggest:

I urge Congress to enact legislation that would prohibit any U.S. president, vice-president, senator or representative from holding public office, even if elected to that office, if any member of their family, by blood or adoption or marriage, receives payments of any kind from any entity beholding in any way to the U.S. federal government.

If such a law were enacted, I can guarantee that the Hunter Biden issue would rapidly disappear into the general fog of political mumbles.

Why?

Because nepotism is seen as a perk of political service and is practiced even by the current president.
