A friend and I left Port Angeles at 7:25 in the morning for Seattle on the new Clallam Transit run, Strait Shot, arriving at 10:15 a.m. into the city, all for $5 (the senior rate with a Regional Reduced Fare Permit for seniors 65 and older and persons of all ages with disabilities).
We walked to Miner’s Landing on Pier 57 to enjoy “Wings Over Washington,” an experience of a lifetime in 15 minutes of flying over the state while you sit in a moving seat, which takes your breath away with the beauty of our mountains, water and forests.
We opted out for the Seattle Great Wheel, the Ferris wheel right next door, and headed up the stairs to Pike Place Market, where we grabbed a bite to eat.
The monorail takes you quickly to the Seattle Center, where your choices are Chihuly Garden & Glass, Museum of Pop Culture, Space Needle, food court, etc.
Then the monorail back to shopping areas.
We stopped at Westlake to enjoy outside live entertainment as they led into Seafair days.
There was still time to wander Pike Place for another look around and back down to the waterfront for inside or outside dining.
Leaving Seattle-Bainbridge ferry at 6:20 p.m., we arrived back in Port Angeles at 8:59 p.m.
We did notice that those who have season tickets to the theaters in Seattle for matinees could take the bus, making it a day without driving.
I’ll be back to do the Seattle Art Museum another day.
The bus also stopped at the Poulsbo Transit Park and Ride for those who want to transfer onto Silverdale-Bremerton buses, and at two stops for two different casinos.
A super deal!
