LETTER: Still misses Clallam activist Dr. Eloise Kailin

Our community lost a great leader this last June.

My friend and likely the greatest activist our county has ever had, Dr. Eloise Kailin, passed away this last June.

I was honored to have known her and become her friend.

She was a shining light while trying to protect our beautiful peninsula.

She always fought the good fight, never wanting accolades or to be the center of attention.

She used science, diligence, sacrifice and perseverance for all our benefit.

We should all use her example of professionalism and caring as we go forward in this life.

Please take some time to read past articles in the Peninsula Daily News and elsewhere [from the governor] and others regarding the many things she accomplished.

She was a great example to me of think globally and act locally, proving to me that an individual or small group can effect positive change.

Thanks, Eloise, for all you’ve done for us, for what you taught me and for being a shining example to everyone.

I sincerely hope I get to see you in the great beyond.

Jim Bourget,

Port Angeles
