During this period of the “Stay Home. Stay Healthy” order from the governor, let me add “Stay Fit.”
We are not in strict quarantine.
We can go out for essentials.
I say that it is essential for our physical fitness and mental health, that we get out of doors.
Commune with nature.
I live alone and have always had a tendency to talk to myself, but recently I crave a little more interaction.
So I am communing with nature.
We are fortunate to have great weather, beautiful scenery and the Olympic Discovery Trail.
There are many locations where you can get on the trail for a healthy stroll.
My favorite is the trail where it crosses the Railroad Bridge at the Dungeness River.
Currently the Dungeness River Audubon Center and Railroad Bridge Park are closed, including the parking lots.
But the trail is open.
So, we can access this section of the trail from Priest Road.
You get to enjoy a little longer walk, but it’s worth it.
Spring is in full swing.
Great plants and flowers and of course there are lots of birds too.
So, do more than stay safe.
Stay healthy and fit.
You can walk or bicycle on the trail or around you neighborhood.
Don’t sequester behind locked doors.
Enjoy the best the North Olympic Peninsula has to offer.
Don’t be lonely.
Commune with nature.
