LETTER: Sports fan lost

From Sequim

I’m the goose that laid the golden egg.

I played pee wee league, Pop Warner, junior high and high school varsity football. I played Little League, and what used to be called pony league baseball.

I had season tickets for the San Diego Chargers for 24 years, putting up with the greedy Spanos family for years.

I had San Diego Padres season tickets and was a lifelong Angels baseball fan.

If there is an algorithm or demographic to target advertising, marketing or sales of sports related products and television viewership, I would be that target.

But the NBA, NFL and to a lesser degree MLB has lost me.

I’m repulsed by their kneeling for our national anthem and their open hostility toward law enforcement and their own country.

This cannot be forgiven.

They have lost me as a fan, ticket holder, TV viewer, all of it.

If they have lost me, given my lifelong loyalty, what chance do they have of surviving?
