LETTER: Relief in reach for some

Look around you.

Obesity is epidemic.

We are a people hooked on sugar and carbohydrates, on fats simple and complex.

God bless Big Food, the makers of our cravings.

We want to be thin.

We diet and we fail, slaves to our cravings, to our addictions.

We go to the doctor to ask for a cure for our addictions.

We ask for just one pill.

Please let there be a pill to cure us of the obesity that is sickening us.

But there is none.

There is none.

God bless the drug companies for the addictions of our friends, our brothers, sisters, parents, cousins, aunts and uncles.

They took drugs for pain and are addicted to pills that they were told would not cause dependency.

They took drugs for fun and now the fun is gone and they are left with a burden they cannot bear alone.

For them there is a pill.

Please do not deny them relief.

And damn big pharma and giant food companies to the eternal fires of hell for what they are doing to all of us.
