LETTER: Questions motives for zoning, parking proposals in Port Angeles

The city of Port Angeles is moving forward to remove or replace zoning codes throughout the city.

These changes will affect every homeowner in the city.

I am especially concerned with the elimination of single-family residential zoning and current off-street parking requirements.

The zoning change would allow multi-family units on 50-foot by 140-foot lots.

Also, we know almost every family has at least two cars. Where are they going to park?

On the street.

With the changes being promoted, would not an environmental impact review be required?

As a homeowner, I view all these changes are being driven by a couple of overzealous council members whose motives are questionable.

Other council members have suggested a closer study of these changes and proceeding with sensible decisions that take into account the needs of the citizens.

Be aware that the proposed changes will affect every Port Angeles citizen.

Gary Walters,

Port Angeles
