LETTER: Qualified candidates

When the political debates come up later this year for candidates in the primaries and November elections there is only one question that needs to be asked to find out where the candidate stands, and only one correct answer.

‘Do you believe Joe Biden won the presidential election fair and square?’

Anything other than an unequivocal ‘Yes,’ tells you all you need to know about this person.

‘Well’ or ‘but’ are not acceptable.

The Sequim City Council elections last year proved that there is a silent majority here in Clallam County who didn’t need to resort to abuse and threats to get QAnon and conspiracy theorists kicked off the council and decent individuals elected by overwhelming majorities.

I don’t believe that the good patriots of Clallam County would vote for anyone who holds those views into office.

It’s not just defeating them, but rather defeating them overwhelmingly that will send a message to the larger community that our democracy is the most important thing that will be on the ballot this year.

If we don’t do this, then there will be cries of rigged elections coming from every loser.

If you recall, the Republican failed candidate for governor called his overwhelming defeat against Gov. Inslee a rigged election and they are trying again in eastern Washington for a seat in the House of Representatives with this completely unqualified individual.

Why can’t the Republican Party come up with qualified candidates with solutions to real problems?
