LETTER: President Trump not a conservative

President Donald Trump has, like most of us, many flaws.

But he is certainly not a conservative.

He is a populist.

If he were a conservative, the national debt would not have increased, it would have decreased.

A true conservative would have let the government shut down and stay down until a balanced budget reached his desk.

I see that the left instead of winning an election, want to change the way they are run.

They are proposing letting convicted felons vote, changing the voting age to 16, allowing illegal aliens to vote, voting without any sort of identification and getting rid of the Electoral College.

Generally conservatives, in addition to a balanced budget, support a strong defense, righting the imbalance between our trading and defense partners, a sensible immigration policy, deregulation and strongly oppose the killing of unborn babies.

For those reasons, many conservatives support the president.

As for respecting conservatives who support this president: Your respect is not being sought, is not needed and is not wanted.
