LETTER: Opponents gloss over the details

Regarding responses to my venting letter on southern states, I am well aware southern Republicans supported Democrats before the Civil Rights Movement.

I also stand by my claim southern state anti-abortion maneuvers are racist and misogynistic.

Those not brain-washed by patriarchal religious doctrine can comprehend female entrapment and subjugation and the disregard for people struggling with poverty and abuse — including immigrant children in captivity at the border — by a Republican voting base claiming to be pro-life.

Consider the actions of pro-lifer, drunken Mississippi Republican state Rep. Doug McLeod who was granted $1,000 bail after punching his wife in the face for not undressing fast enough for sex.

One fitting comment made concerning the incident: Had the wife only declared herself a zygote she would have received more legal protection in the south.

As for those who believe President Barack Obama hurt our economy, they are conveniently forgetting Obama inherited Bush junior’s economic crisis, while Trump inherited a recovering economy, then exploded the deficit with tax cuts and more military spending, plus, tossed in a border wall and tariff war.

Finally, regarding the Republicans’ latest claim Obama abused power to begin the investigation on Trump and Russia, Mueller’s team confirmed serious Russian meddling in the 2016 election and did not clear Trump of obstructing the justified investigation.

It is wrong to gloss over this to protect Trump and the Republican Party in 2020.
