The Clallam PUD’s efforts to roll out smart meters may or may not yield electricity savings for their customers, without compromising personal privacy concerns.
The absolute way for customers to save on their electric bills is for PUD to offer off-peak pricing.
Established statistics, and common sense, shows most electricity demands occur between 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The remaining off-peak 12 hours’ use is relatively light.
Many newer appliances such as washing machines and smaller appliances such as televisions, computers and outlet timers can be programmed.
If these ideas are not feasible, perhaps PUD could tell us why not.
