LETTER: Not using plastic bags unites public in climate change effort

Since California outlawed single use plastic bags two years ago it was interesting how fast we and our neighbors in Truckee, Calif., where we own a second home, were instantly motivated to bring our own bags or pay 10 cents for paper if we forgot, which further encouraged us to set up programs to recycle our trash with special pick-up deliveries.

The incentive to feel we’re doing something to fight climate change has given us all a united feeling we’re helping in the battle against climate change and giving some hope for our children.
