LETTER: Not sure about president but country’s in great shape

I had few illusions when voting for Donald Trump.

He was a billionaire, narcissistic, ego-driven playboy. He had access to every vice and very guilty of indulging himself, in many — wealth, women, yachts, airplanes and more.

He probably wouldn’t be a best friend if we were to meet.

I don’t know that I would even like him.

The White House is not running like a “normal” administration.

There is drama, hiring, firing, back biting and so on.

There are insider, career government employees leaking every perceived misstep.

The “swamp” in all its glory.

The drama in Washington is lawyer-driven.

The town is lousy with lawyers and lawyers do what they do.

They sue, threaten to sue and litigate.

Despite all this, our country is in wonderful shape.

The markets, all the markets, and all the indicators, are up in record fashion.

The Dow is up over 45%, approaching 50%.

Unemployment is the lowest in over a half century.

Unemployment among black, Hispanic, women and every other demographic is the lowest in memory.

This administration is talking to North Korea, Russia, China and Iran to put our country first in relation to trade and security.

Taxes have been reduced, regulations either dropped or streamlined. Companies are bringing their money and jobs back to the U.S.

We have the luxury to try to save orcas, relocate mountain goats and provide humanitarian aid all over the world.

Yes his tweets are troublesome.

But even that is sometimes worthwhile, if only to see liberals’ hair catch fire.

Phil Turner,
