LETTER: NFL has every right to reject Kaepernick’s politicization of sport

In response to Paul Newberry’s column on the Aug. 8 Peninsula Daily News’ Sports page, “NFL does not want its cage rattled,” Colin Kaepernick has the right to express his personal opinion as far as that is protected by the First Amendment.

The National Football League, as a business, has the right to preserve and protect its product.

It has strict rules, for example, regarding uniforms and employee conduct.

Many individuals and businesses who support the NFL recognize that its customers and supporters do not appreciate being subjected to Kaepernick’s opinion while they are trying to enjoy the entertainment the NFL provides.

The NFL and its owners have every right to prevent Kaepernick’s message from being forced on their customers and every right to reject his message being interjected into their sport.
