It is difficult to imagine the joy being experienced by our new white nationalist administration as it begins to dismember Hispanic families.
Adults who came to the U.S. to work for a better life and the young children they brought with them now live in daily terror of being deported.
Their children who were born here face the dread of losing their parents or moving to a country where they don’t speak the language.
Some of the younger immigrants, known as DREAMers, who have had their deportation deferred under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, must hide and are in constant dread of a government they used to trust.
Once in the U.S., immigrants have proven to be as law-abiding and hardworking as the rest of us.
Many of them do the dirty, labor-intensive work that most Americans shun.
Who benefits from this ugly un-American dragnet threatening millions of good people?
Surely it is those politicians who harvest the financial support and votes of racists.
