LETTER: Navy jets’ sound reminds writer of freedoms, sacrifice

Thank you, Navy FA-18 Growler pilots, for the sacrifices you make to ensure that we are free.

Free enough to complain about the noise you make.

Listening to your engines for a few moments reminds me to appreciate my freedoms and be grateful to those who ensure them.

Also, I thank your families who, I’m sure, would rather have you at home with them relaxing at Lake Crescent than away training to protect us all.

There are many more folks who are grateful than those who complain.

I’m reminded of a quote from President Dwight Eisenhower, “A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.”

Anne Hornor,
