LETTER: Markings essential

I was appalled that the white around the base of the guard rail support posts around the reconstructed Lake Crescent road were painted black.

The white bottoms of those posts were easy to see, even at night during a rain storm or during fog.

Now with the posts painted black and the road stripes hard to see in the frequent dark rainy nights, it produces a hazardous safety situation.

The lines painted on the road are OK but they wear out, get covered up and are not easily seen during the rain storms.

It is sometimes impossible to see where the edge of the road is.

That was the only marking visible as a guideline around that lake during bad weather at night.

The reflectors help a lot, but during a snow storm they are not always visible.

Those stripes on the posts weren’t going to be run over or wear out.

They could be seen in those bad visibility conditions .

We need to be safer while driving around the lake.

They did not need to paint over those visible white posts.

They showed us where the edge of the road was.

Often that was the only guide for safety.
