LETTER: Mainstream media has forced NRA to defend rights

“Yes, the National Rifle Assocaition has changed” in response to the April 4 letter, “NRA has changed.”

But I must point out the NRA is not a “mouthpiece for gun and ammunition companies.”

They have become “one of the most powerful lobbying groups in America” out of necessity.

Not lobbying for companies, but for the rights of all U.S. citizens that have been eroding by progressive thinking in our society.

Established in 1871, the NRA is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsman’s group.

It’s the nation’s leader in firearm education, safety and training and advocates the enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime.

It stands for the fundamental God-given right to self-defense.

Because of the biased, lame-stream media’s sensationalizing of these murders occurring in the U.S., the NRA has become a whipping post for the uninformed and unfamiliar emotionally charged groups that are targeted by the media.

That is why the NRA has become a lobbying group.
