Library concerns
Our local public libraries may be the most nonpartisan, vital and beloved institutions we have.
They truly serve all our community with resources, activities and events for almost every age and taste.
So we at Port Angeles Friends of the Library are deeply concerned about the current threats and uncertainty that surround our libraries, and all libraries in the nation, posed by the presidential executive order to slash federal support for libraries.
This order has been temporarily blocked by lawsuits, on the grounds that federal support in this case was authorized by Congress and should not be ended by the president.
Nonetheless, the uncertainty about the future is an obstacle to planning and ongoing services.
If you love our library, please let your congressional representatives and your friends know how much you care about this issue.
