LETTER: Let’s show those political con artists how smart we can be

Trump’s playbook. It appears to be similar to Putin’s: destroy the media and control the message.

Does there have to be a picture in order for people to understand this?

Let’s make it easy.

Follow the money.

I would bet that President Donald Trump has probably pocketed millions since he’s been in office, not to mention how much his family has made and will continue to make.

It would be wonderful if we worked about six months, like our members of Congress, which spends lots of time campaigning, and got paid $174,000, plus use leftover campaign money for future campaigns.

And, of course, excellent health care and retirement benefits.

No wonder politics is so dirty.

We could get our country back if we gave an order to our politicians that campaigns will be publicly financed and not by the wealthy, and politicians will have to work full time like us.

Poor things, no more lobbyists paying for favors.

If only 150 million voters donated $10 on election days, this problem could be solved.

I can’t think of one American who would not want this.

If politicians refuse to obey, then they are fired.

Lobbyists would quit.

How good is that?

Radio and television earn billions on campaign advertising and hardly pay anything for a Federal Communications Commission license.

They should be required to donate free time for our democracy.

No donation, no license.

We have been stepped on by con artists and some of the wealthiest forever and will continue to be if we do not exercise our rights.

So let’s trick them and show them how smart we are.

Bill Ellis,

Sequim
