LETTER: Large election contributions endanger democracy

Is our democracy at risk?

As long as we keep allowing our politicians to accept large contributions from special interest groups, I say yes.

Is it wrong spending a billion dollars on a presidential campaign, or $7 million on a senatorial runoff race?

Yes.

What is wrong is if you do nothing about it.

The good news is you can make the change.

Tell your representatives as a group, we will provide campaign funds and from now on we will be your special interest group.

If your representatives agree, then they continue with their pay day, retirement and health care.

This message is for all voters.

We fought and died for our democracy.

Now, we must fight again.

Call your representatives and your party headquarters.

This is urgent — don’t wait.

Bill Ellis,
