It is inappropriate to say in reference to President Trump that “he loves our public lands” as was said by Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke (“Federal Funds will go to Quilcene hatchery,” PDN, June 8).
Trump has drastically cut the area of two important national monuments — Bears Ears and Grand Escalante — and his administration has put on fast track drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, according to media reports.
Those of us who care about public lands do not favor reducing protected areas or spoiling the most wild and pristine area in the country.
