LETTER: In face of stepped-up immigration enforcement, here’s what you can do

Our current president has promised to step up enforcement and increase deportations.

What can we do?

We can call Jefferson County Sheriff David Stanko at 360-385-2831 and tell him we do not want the sheriff’s office cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in East and West Jefferson County.

Also ask the sheriff to make sure that his officers do not inquire about the legal status of people.

Sheriff’s deputies must presume that all residents of Jefferson County are U.S. citizens.

Brenda McMillan,

Port Townsend
